Hello all!
This weekend I'm heading off to the soon-to-be center of the world that is Rio de Janeiro (afterall, it's hosting both the World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics). Prepare to see some great pictures of me posing like Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado on Monday. I'm not alone in my travels and am accompanied by Danny Burns, fellow Dsig and interning for July in Curitiba, and Laura, my partner in crime here in Sao Paulo. We are meeting up with a fellow GIP intern from the US, Will, who is letting us crash in his hotel room and doing some touristy things with us.
Everyone here has been absolutely amazing in helping us out. Laura's Brazilian buddy Gabriela bought our tickets for us since we could not use an international credit card and also made sure that everything was taken care of, many times accomplishing things we couldn't by calling people in Portuguese. Gabriela even called another buddy in Rio to pick us up from the airport and drive us to our hotel. My buddies have also been so great about giving me any information I need, from restaurants to try to places I should avoid and safety precautions. Even the audit partner here gave us his home phone number in case we needed anything.
Anyhow, I will be back in Sao Paulo Sunday evening with lots of stories and pictures to blog. Tchau!
